Katie T.'s Experience

Since day dot, I have always been fascinated with the natural world and all the creatures in it. From a tiny flea to a humpback whale, each creature has its place in the ecosystem. I grew up watching my hero David Attenborough who to this day still educates me about everything wild and how we need to help save the Earth. Animals have always been my lifeblood, having vast amounts of pets over the years, to creating a mini ecosystem in my garden. Each animal I hold in high regard and love each and every one of them. I have worked for the last 20 years with disadvantaged children in social care and in schools but this wasn't always my passion. My passion has always been with animals. I have just started venturing into the world of dog boarding, having looked after my friends Chug for extended periods for approximately 3 years. I also home boarded my brother's 2 cockapoo's and golden retriever and I have since gained further experience home boarding a friend of a friends pair of Chugs. Since June 2026, I have home boarded a Springer Spaniel, Havenese and Maltese dog. I have also successfully completed a home visit for an elderly Beagle. Each dog is treated as if they were family, I want to recreate a home from home experience for every dog in my care including daily walks,sleeping in my bed (if customers are happy for this to take place) brushing, playtime and lots of love and affection. I already have my own pets, and have had numerous small animals in my lifetime including budgies, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, guinea pigs, cats and my most favourite pet of all... rats. I currently have 9 pet rats who are super affectionate, highly intelligent and just all round beautiful! I've owned rats for 19 years and I don't think i'll ever not own them. I also have 3 cats. The first Sula is our more timid cat. The 2nd cat Floppy had 4 kittens during covid (due to neutering being unavailable) which was a beautiful experience to support during the birth and I extensively researched the needs and dietary requirements ensuring they had a healthy start in life before I found exceptional homes for them. Our 3rd cat Henry is a fairly recent addition to the family, having adopted him from an elderly neighbour who could no longer care for him. All three cats were warey of dogs and are now beginning to accept them. They are all indoor/outdoor cats and I plan on building them a shelving/sleeping area at the top of my staircase to give them a natural environment indoors. Every animal deserves love, care and affection, they will certainly have that with me! I’d be delighted to meet you and your dog beforehand and spend some time getting to know you both, ensuring I’m the right match for your dog’s needs. I also hold an Enhanced DBS check for added reassurance. I have qualified in Level 2 Award in Dog First Aid and CPR through Dog Business School on 13/07/2026. I have a dog tracker and indoor camera should I need to pop out and can keep an eye on your pet this also has built in 2 way voice. In time i'm looking to gain qualifications in dog care/boarding and well as in dog training. I am also looking into further enrichment toys and purchasing a tracker for added peace of mind when out walking with your dog.

To help your dog or small animal feel as comfortable and settled as possible, it would be helpful to know about their usual routine and any preferences you'd like me to follow. Please let me know about their feeding/cleaning schedule, walking routine, favourite toys or games, health issues, medication requirements and any commands they respond to. It's also important for me to know if there is anything your pet is uncomfortable with or doesn't particularly enjoy, such as loud noises, other dogs or animals, being handled in certain areas, or any situations that may cause them stress. The more I know about your pet's personality and needs, the better I can provide a safe, happy and enjoyable stay tailored just for them.

A typical day

Behind my house is a large playing field with a small wooded area, providing plenty of space for exercise and exploration. The field is secure apart from a single entrance, and it's a popular meeting place for a friendly community of local dog owners, which I regularly attend. If appropriate for your dog's temperament and your preferences, they can join these group walks and enjoy safe, supervised off-lead play and socialisation. At home, I have a variety of toys and balls to keep dogs entertained, and I'll soon be adding even more enrichment, including puzzle feeders and a GPS tracking device for added peace of mind during walks. Your dog will never be short of company here. With a busy family home and plenty of opportunities for play, attention and affection, they'll always have people around to keep them happy and engaged. I also regularly walk my dogs at Prospect Park, which is just a 10-minute walk from my home. It's a fantastic place to provide dogs with new sights, smells and experiences, making every walk both stimulating and enjoyable.
