Hi, I’m Amber! I’m an experienced pet sitter and lifelong animal lover, and I’m really happy to be getting back into pet sitting after some time away. After building a lovely little community of repeat clients in Norwich, I had to take a break from pet sitting while I focused on my health. I’m now really excited to slowly get back to doing something I love and welcoming some new furry faces while continuing with treatment closer to home. I come from a huge animal-loving family, so I’ve always been surrounded by pets. We currently have six dogs, four horses, and nine chickens, and I’ve previously owned and cared for cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish and hamsters too. My own dog Danti has been with me since I was 11, and caring for him taught me so much about responsible ownership, training and understanding a dog’s individual personality. I’ve trained him in obedience, agility and musical freestyle, and I love finding ways to keep dogs engaged and having fun! I also trained my Labrador Shep in assistance-dog work, giving me experience with structured training, focus, task work and adapting training to an individual dog. Unfortunately he has since passed away, but we had so much fun learning together. I’ve always loved getting to know animals as individuals with their own personalities. Whether your dog wants a quiet afternoon of cuddles, some enrichment, a little training or simply someone to keep them company, I’ll make sure they get plenty of attention and love! I take the time to let each pet settle in at their own pace, particularly nervous or sensitive dogs. I’ll keep their normal routine as consistent as possible and make sure they have plenty of companionship, enrichment and attention. I’m comfortable with crate training if needed, having crate trained both my own dogs as puppies. I’ll also keep you updated throughout their stay, with plenty of photos so you can see what your fur baby has been up to!
Whilst I have no preference for breed, age, and most quirks, it’s really important that I’m made aware of any behavioural issues, nervousness, reactivity or medical needs beforehand so I know how best to prepare. I have extensive experience with dog training and am happy to reinforce existing training or work on basic obedience, tricks and manners where appropriate. I do not support the use of prong, e-collars, shock, spray or other aversive tools. I’m happy to use correctly fitted head collars or figure-of-eight slip leads at the owner’s request where appropriate. Additionally, If your dog has significant medical needs, please let me know in advance so we can make sure I’m equipped to provide the care they require.
Call me crazy, but I’ve always been the type of owner to constantly talk to my dogs and involve them in everything as if they’re human! I love making a plan for the day around their usual routine and what they enjoy. Depending on the dog, we might go for a gentle walk, play at home or in the garden, practise some training, try enrichment activities, or simply snuggle up when it’s time to relax. I love using things like lick mats and other enrichment toys to keep clever noses and brains minds busy, especially for dogs who enjoy having a job to do! I’m fortunate to have a flexible schedule, meaning your pet won’t be left alone for long at all! I’m currently getting back into pet sitting after a period of ill health, which meant moving closer to my family while I undergo treatment. I’m now gradually taking on bookings again and have plenty of flexibility around your pet’s routine. I also pride myself on reliable communication and regular updates, so you’ll never be waiting long for a reply! Please note that I’m currently focusing on older dogs or dogs with low-to-moderate energy needs while I receive treatment for some mobility and other health challenges, so please ensure your dogs exercise needs are compatible with what I can currently offer. This may include shorter walks alongside plenty of companionship, play, training and mental enrichment. I’d be more than happy to discuss this with you if you’re uncertain! 😄
