I've had animals all my life and currently share my home with seven dogs and two cats. Caring for animals isn't just something I do occasionally—it's part of my everyday life, and I've spent years learning to understand their individual personalities, routines and needs. Living with seven dogs means no two days are ever the same. From energetic youngsters who thrive on training and enrichment to older companions who prefer a gentler pace, I've gained invaluable hands-on experience with dogs of different ages, temperaments and abilities. It's taught me how important consistency, patience and understanding canine body language are in helping dogs feel safe, happy and confident. Living with cats has also shown me that every pet is different. Some love attention, while others prefer a quieter approach and interaction on their own terms. That experience has reinforced the importance of adapting my care to suit each individual pet rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Alongside pet sitting, I also run a successful dog breeding and training business specialising in Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers. Working with dogs professionally every day has given me extensive experience in caring for puppies, adolescent dogs and adults, as well as recognising changes in behaviour, maintaining routines and providing appropriate exercise, enrichment and training. Whether I'm caring for a playful puppy, an active adult dog, a senior companion or a cat, I treat every animal as if they were my own. My goal is to make sure they're not only safe and well cared for, but genuinely happy and relaxed while you're away.
To help me provide the very best care, please let me know a little about your pet before our first visit. Some helpful things to include are: * Their age, breed and personality. * Any medical conditions, allergies or medications. * Any dietary requirements or feeding instructions. * Favourite toys, games, walks or activities. * Any fears, anxieties or behavioural quirks (e.g. nervous around other dogs, reactive on lead, escape artist, dislikes loud noises). * Any training cues or commands they respond to. * Whether they're happy to be left alone for short periods. * For cats, whether they're indoor or outdoor cats and any usual routines. * Any other information you think would help me give your pet the best possible care. The more I know about your pet, the better I can tailor my visits to make sure they feel comfortable, happy and relaxed while you're away.
Every dog is different, so I tailor my visits around their normal routine. My aim is to keep life as familiar and stress-free as possible while you're away. A typical day starts with a toilet break, breakfast if required, fresh water and plenty of attention before heading out for a walk suited to your dog's age, fitness and energy levels. Whether they enjoy exploring woodland, practising recall, playing retrieve or simply having a gentle stroll, I make sure they receive the exercise and enrichment they need. Back at home, it's not just a case of feeding and leaving. I spend quality time with every dog, whether that's playing, practising basic training, providing enrichment or simply keeping them company. I want every visit to be something your dog genuinely looks forward to. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. Alongside pet sitting, I run Coerthas Retrievers, where I breed health-tested Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers and train my own dogs for working and rural pursuits. We currently have seven dogs of our own, giving us daily, hands-on experience with dogs of different ages, personalities and training levels. From young puppies to older dogs, I understand the importance of routine, consistency, exercise and recognising each dog's individual needs. If you have a puppy or adolescent dog, I'm also happy to reinforce good habits during my visits, including lead walking, recall, calm behaviour around the home and polite manners using positive, reward-based methods. Before I leave, I'll make sure your dog is settled, comfortable and has everything they need until my next visit or until you return home. I'll also send regular updates, photos and videos so you can relax knowing they're happy, safe and being cared for as if they were my own. For me, pet sitting isn't simply feeding dogs and letting them into the garden. It's about providing the same level of care, attention and companionship that I'd expect for my own dogs, so you can enjoy complete peace of mind while you're away.
